(1)二者不得相互代用。尤其不得将结构MS密封胶作为耐候MS密封胶使用。虽然结构MS密封胶价格贵，较为高级，降为耐候MS密封胶是以大代小，但是耐候MS密封胶主要用于外部建筑密封，对耐候性有更高的要求，这一点结构MS密封胶是难以胜任的。

(2)二者都应在有效期内使用，过期的耐候MS密封胶和结构MS密封胶不得使用。

(3)所使用的耐候MS密封胶和结构MS密封胶都必须持有国家合格证和各种性能检测报告，当用于幕墙工程时，还应对二种MS密封胶进行二次性能检测。

(4)对于结构MS密封胶，除了做各种性能检测以外，还应做与接触材料的相容性试验，所谓相容性是指结构MS密封胶与这些材料接触时，只起粘结作用，不发生影响粘结性能的任何化学变化。
