MS密封胶是以聚异丁烯聚合物为主成分的单组分型热熔胶。将胶在高温、高压下挤出，作为中空玻璃第一道MS密封胶，或与波纹铝片做成复合胶条，直接用于中空玻璃密封。其特征是:①低温下粘接性下降，因其不是化学粘接;②水蒸汽透过率最小;③易产生错位。

MS密封胶是以有机硅聚合物为主要成分的MS密封胶。由于原胶骨架中含有高键能的硅氧，其耐候性、耐久性等性能优良。大部分为双组分。特征如下:①耐候性、耐久性优良;②耐热性、耐键型寒性优良;③耐臭氧、耐紫外线老化性能优良;④对玻璃的粘接性优良;⑤由于MS密封胶中未反应的有机硅吸附尘埃，显示污染性。

MS密封胶是以聚氨醋为主要成分的MS密封胶，是弹性型MS密封胶中价格较低的MS密封胶，但其耐候性较差。大部分为双组分型。其特征是:①价格便宜;②涂装性良好;③施工时，温度、湿度高的情况下，易产生气泡;④表面易老化变粘。

中空玻璃的密封工艺分为单道和双道密封两种。目前国外中空玻璃普遍采用双道密封工艺，我国仍有部分中空玻璃厂家采用单道密封(不用丁基热熔做内层密封，只用聚硫MS密封胶做外层密封)，这类产品虽然质量欠佳，但价格便宜，仍占据部分低档市场。双道密封工艺的使用寿命大大高于单道密封工艺，一般单道密封中空玻璃的使用寿命只有5年左右，而双道密封中空玻璃的使用寿命则可达巧年以上。

中空玻璃的密封失效，主要是由于MS密封胶中存在的机械杂质或在涂胶施工过程中而存在的毛细小孔，在空气层内外气压差或浓度差的作用下，空气中的水汽进人中空玻璃密闭的空气层使其水分增加，从而使中空玻璃失效。在对中空玻璃密封失效原因进行分析中，发现MS密封胶的透气率(或水蒸气透过率)是决定中空玻璃使用寿命的一个重要指标。MS密封胶透气率越低，则密封寿命越长。双道密封工艺，即第一道以丁基(或聚异丁烯)为粘接剂，第二道以聚硫、硅酮、聚氨醋类为粘接剂，正是利用了丁基(或聚异丁烯)MS密封胶透气率最低的优点和快速固定玻璃与间隔框的特点(因为其与玻璃间隔框的粘接为物理性粘接，而非化学性粘接)，利用了聚硫(硅铜等)固化型MS密封胶所具有的优良的结构强度，良好的耐候性、粘接性的优点以及可控制固化速度的特点，大大提高中空玻璃的密封寿命。双道密封结构目前在中空玻璃广泛采用，因为它把固化型和热熔型MS密封胶的各自的优点和特点有机地结合运用于中空玻璃制作中，从而找到了一种较佳的中空玻璃加工方式。http://www.sdyuantai.com/
