氧化硬化型丁基防水嵌缝密封胶:表面干燥的嵌缝或安装玻璃用丁基防水嵌缝密封胶属这种类型，主要以干性和半干性植物油为基材。着中类油料可以是精制聚合的、吹制的或化学改性的，用环烷酸钻作催干剂加速表面干燥而内部不硬化;环烷酸铅可使表面和内部都硬化，而环烷酸锰使内部硬化更有效。

溶剂挥发凝固型丁基防水嵌缝密封胶:是以溶剂挥发后无粘性高聚物为基料的丁基防水嵌缝密封胶。此类丁基防水嵌缝密封胶主要有丁基橡胶、高分子量聚异丁烯、一定聚合程度的丙烯酸酯,氯磺化聚乙烯以及氯丁橡胶等丁基防水嵌缝密封胶。

不干性永久塑性丁基防水嵌缝密封胶:这类丁基防水嵌缝密封胶通常包括以聚丁烯、中等分子量的聚异丁烯、高粘度的非氧化性粘接料如苯乙烯基油、不干性植物油、吹制半干性油或丁基橡胶为基料的丁基防水嵌缝密封胶。
